Payment

I accept cash or bank transfer payments for lessons. Each has their own set of rules:

Cash or cheque payments

Cash payments can be made after each lesson. If you attend a lesson but we (you and I) agree that you have learnt nothing, then I will gladly not charge you for that lesson.

If the lesson is cancelled on the day, due to something within your control, then I will ask for the full fee. Obviously I'm fairly lenient on this: for example, the first time you turn up having forgotten your safety equipment I can understand, but subsequent times are not acceptable. After three such cancellations I am afraid I will have to refuse to take any more bookings from you.

Please understand that, whilst this sounds harsh, I am only asking for the same courtesy that I would pay you if the roles were reversed.

Bank transfer payments

When you book a place on a group course, or we arrange a private lesson, I will provide you with bank account details into which payment can be made. You are expected to pay in full before the lesson and, in the case of group courses, the course fee is expected to be paid in full.

All fees are non-refundable when paid by bank transfer. If you fail to turn up for a lesson, or cancel on the day, the fee will be kept to cover administration charges and the potential of lost time. However, if you attend a lesson and we (you and I) agree that you learnt nothing, or decide not to attend a course with reasonable notice, you will receive a credit note (to the equivalent value) which must be used within 3 months of the date on the note.

Cancellation Policy

I sell my knowledge and time: people book an hour, or more, with me and, in return, I expect a certain level of courtesy. If a lesson is cancelled, for whatever reason, I lose out on not only the money but also the advertising opportunity of teaching, unless I can find another student to fill that slot.

Therefore I would appreciate you giving me 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend a lesson. This gives me enough time to find another student to potentially fill that time slot, or for me to reorganise my schedule. In return I will endeavour to make sure that you get 24 hours notice of any changes to lesson times. Clearly there are situations, on both sides, that can't be predicted 24 hours ahead of any lesson (I'm talking about the weather in particular) and obviously reasonable causes for lesson cancellations will be accepted.

This is the website of Matthew Denner, a UK based inline skating instructor. If you're looking to start skating, or improve your current skills, you should take a look around to see what I have to offer.

I try to make my courses goal oriented, whether that is being part of the larger street skating community, or just getting a number of skills that combine well together. I cater for all skill levels, from complete beginner through to competent skaters. When teaching private lessons I treat you as an individual, catering for your abilities and learning rate. And with those courses and lessons my students get their own students area page with access to notes, tips and drills.
