This is just a short post to let you know that I'll be slightly out of contact until Monday 17th August. From Monday to Friday next week I'm on a slalom retreat week which is being run by Naomi Grigg; and Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th are SkateLondon, which I seem to have entered!

It's the second time I've done Naomi's retreat and I'm really looking forward to it after last time. When I first did it I had no slalom experience what-so-ever, so everything was very new and I expected something different from it than what I got; this time I'm going with some specific goals and hoping to put together a reasonable routine for SkateLondon. Some of the people on the course I already know, a few are completely new faces which will be a great opportunity to meet some more skaters; Friday promises to be interesting as it sounds like Martin Sloboda, from Germany, is going to be hanging out with us in the park.

Friday night everyone starts arriving for SkateLondon; some of the worlds best skaters are going to be there and, from the sounds of things, it's going to be more of a success than anyone anticipated. There are battle slalom and speed slalom events going on all weekend, as well as hockey, baby cross (like a smaller bladercross event), 24 minute Le Mans (most number of laps in 24 minutes wins), high jump, and slides competitions. I can't describe how nervous I am about competing in the battle slalom (actually I can, it's just probably not good to put it into words!) but, at the same time, really looking forward to meeting some of the people that'll be there.

Anyway, replies to emails might be a little delayed and, obviously, there'll be no lessons happening during this time. I'll be back on Monday 17th with a report on the weeks events.

This is the website of Matthew Denner, a UK based inline skating instructor. If you're looking to start skating, or improve your current skills, you should take a look around to see what I have to offer.

I try to make my courses goal oriented, whether that is being part of the larger street skating community, or just getting a number of skills that combine well together. I cater for all skill levels, from complete beginner through to competent skaters. When teaching private lessons I treat you as an individual, catering for your abilities and learning rate. And with those courses and lessons my students get their own students area page with access to notes, tips and drills.
